The GED (General Educational Development) is a set of four tests designed to measure the knowledge and skills equivalent to a high school education. The GED test is often taken by individuals who did not complete high school and would like to obtain a credential that demonstrates their ability to function at a high school level. Successful completion of the GED tests results in a GED certificate, which is accepted by many employers and colleges as equivalent to a high school diploma. The GED program is recognized in the United States and Canada, and is considered a second chance for individuals who did not have the opportunity to complete their high school education.
